2008 HURRICANE KART RULES
STOCK AND MODIFIED CLASSES
Pit Passes for everyone even drivers in the pits are $5.00. Car Entry for every driver is $5.00
Pit passes go toward Insurance and the Kids and 1/2 the Adult Entry goes into the bank and the other half of the Adults goes to the track.
Karts shall have a maximum width of 52" outside to outside.
Length of the wheelbase must be at least 52" and the overall length of the kart shall be a maximum of 96" bumper to bumper.
Stock Rear Tire shall be 18" diameter on right side.
Stock and Modify Front Tires shall be a minimum of 12".
Kart shall have front and rear bumpers at least 8" from the ground and will have hoop round with two (2) bars horizontal and vertical. Nerf bars both sides 4" maximum from end to bar to tire, this is to prevent a tire from another kart getting inside of the wheelbase.
Acceptable materials to include: 1/2" Black Iron, 3/4" EMT, or .063 Electric Weld Tubing. All edges to be rounded and double tubes required.
Kart shall have padding on all areas where driver's body or limbs could contact in the event of an accident or roll over.
All outer edges of kart shall have no sharp edges that could cause injury to the driver of another kart in the event of an accident or roll over.
Stock Motors shall be box stock, 13 hp Honda single cylinder or equivalent, no engine modifications (No machine work). 20 thousands maximum over bore, removal of governor and related parts acceptable. No modifications to carburetor.
Modify Motors shall be 13 hp Honda single cylinder or equivalent. Stock Appearing Carburetor, No aluminum flywheels.
Stock and Modify will use pump gas only for fuel.
Stock and modify can try side mount engines ***SUBJECT TO CHANGE***
Karts shall have a full roll cage that shall be reinforced as to provide adequate protection in a roll over. (Tri-Angular Reinforcement) Roll bar shall be a minimum of 3" above the driver's head with helmet on and shall be wider than the width of the drivers's shoulders. The cage shall be constructed from a minimum of 3/4" EMT conduit or equivalent.
All body parts must be constructed from materials that will not break or shatter upon impact. Plexiglas, glass, plastic, etc. .....Not Allowed.
Karts shall be provided with at least a 4-point harness. A 5-point harness is recommended.
Drivers shall wear a DOT approved helmet, neck collar, gloves and all extremities shall be covered (i.e. Arms, legs, feet, etc.)
The Hurricane Kart safety team must inspect new karts before entering any race.

If you change a motor or kart because of mechanical problems or there is a Driver Change, you must start at the rear of your next race. Track secretary, Cris Rehbein, must be notified or you will be DQ. The line up of positions follows the original driver not the kart.
Numbers on cars should be 8" tall on the both sides of the car - preferred black on white or white on black. Solid Color - NO METALLIC unless it is outlined in Solid Color.
Ages: 5 to 8 years old with a 6 hp (if there is enough car count otherwise they go into...
9 to 15 years old with a 13 hp
16 years old moves up to Adults, 14 years old with 2 years experience.
Brakes will be check at the pit entrance every time before going on the track. If brakes do not work properly, no racing until fixed. Then they get checked again at the gate.
This class was initiated to be a low cost, safe and fun racing experience for the whole family. Good sportsmanship is imperative.
